Dual-national artist Andres Monsalve began his love affair with art growing up in Colombia, South America amidst a family of atelier pioneers and art collectors. Formally educated in the United States, Andres diverted from his studies in architecture to pursue his passion for fine art- particularly mixed media painting. With studios in both Miami, Florida and Antioquia, Colombia, Andres draws inspiration from the forest-filled mountains and diverse ecosystem of South America, as well as the vivid, tropical waters and earthy desert landscapes of the United States.

Andres' focuses his work in three passionate series- "The Roots of LiFe", LiFe Line Connectivity" and "Cosmic LiFe."

Within "The Roots of LiFe" acrylic with mixed media series, the artist explores the life force of humanity within the metaphor of all living vegetation. The "roots" are portrayed upside down, evoking the upward thrust of all plants and trees, as with human beings, continuing to expand and reach far beyond what is at their core.

Andres' "LiFe Line Connectivity" acrylic and silica series expresses the continuity of connection. Adding ground silica to his acrylic pigments, the artist not only evokes the mineral's state-of-the-art communication capabilities, but he dazzles us with its transparent, crystal-like luminosity. In addition a second, linear acrylic paint element further emphasizes mankind's need for connection as it continues from one panel to the next.

Lastly, the artist's "Cosmic LiFe" acrylic and mixed media series bursts forth with the unbridled energy and regenerative nature of the solar system and all life forms. As does mankind continue to migrate and integrate among new lands and peoples, so does all existence and consciousness in perpetual expansion.
