I'm a photographer born in Sincelejo, Colombia. Currently living and working in Miami, FL.

My photographic work explores the relationship between people and their environment, questioning whether we are defined by what surrounds us or if what surrounds us is an extension of who we are. Through portraits of street vendors, removed from their urban context, I seek to highlight the dignity and humanity of those who are an essential part of our cities' landscapes, yet often remain invisible in the official narrative.
These vendors, who have spent years on the streets, working under the shade of a tree or at the foot of a monument, are much more than anonymous figures. By removing them from the city and presenting them in a neutral space, I want viewers to confront the question: Do these individuals define the place where they work, or does that place shape them?

I invited street vendors to an improvised studio in an empty office, away from Cartagena and its everyday context. I was captivated by listening to their stories and observing how, after years of working in the same place, they have woven their lives into the same community. I was fascinated by the human dignity reflected in their expressions and the humility of those unaccustomed to posing, but who display a genuine curiosity.
In this process, I aim to capture the essence of their work and their stories, moving away from the idealized representations that often present a beautified image of the city. Instead, I highlight the living, authentic reality they embody, a reality that is often overlooked in favor of a superficial and aesthetic image. Through their expressions, clothing, and tools, I seek to restore the protagonism that has been denied to them.
